Cami Claudel No. 06 — Soleil
A study in cane, cord, movement and light.
Soleil is a one-of-one Cami Claudel bag built around a tall cylindrical silhouette of natural open-weave cane. Ivory cord is hand-laced through the structure and then worked into an elaborate macramé crown, punctuated by tiny gold-tone beads and finished with long, free-moving strands that fall dramatically along the sides.
At the top, rounded natural wood handles introduce another warm organic texture. The contrast between the rigid cane body and the loose, almost unruly macramé is what makes Soleil feel distinctly Cami Claudel: structure meeting softness, craftsmanship meeting experimentation.
The front of the bag features visible hand-lacing worked directly through the cane, while the upper macramé becomes part ornament, part construction. Every knot, wrap and placement was made by hand, allowing the final form to develop organically rather than from a mass-produced pattern.
