Petite Cami Claudel No. 01 — Pearl

One of one. Handmade in St. Louis.

The Petite Cami is the little sister to our original Cami Claudel, reimagined in a smaller, more playful silhouette and made one at a time by hand.

Pearl pairs natural open-weave cane with softly textured ivory cord and luminous pearl-style handles. The pearls function as both structure and adornment, giving the bag a sculptural, jewelry-like quality.

The Craft

I hand-cut, shape, and finish each cane panel, using materials traditionally intended for structural craftsmanship in an entirely new way: as the architecture of a handbag.

The cane provides the structure and form. I then wrap, knot, and work cord around the frame by hand, making it both part of the construction and part of the design.

Because of their smaller scale, the Petite Camis are actually some of the more intricate pieces I make. Working around tighter curves and smaller openings means every knot, connection, and finishing detail requires precision.

Each Petite Cami takes approximately 4–5 hours of handwork to complete.

Rigid cane sits beside soft cord. Traditional material takes on an unexpected form. Hand-finished variations remain visible instead of being engineered away. It is the contrast I keep returning to throughout the Cami collection: Structure and softness.

The Name

The collection is named for French sculptor Camille Claudel, an extraordinary artist whose work was overshadowed for much of her life by the men around her.

The Cami Claudel Collection is a tribute to women who make things with their hands, particularly creative work that exists between art, craft, fashion, and function.

Each Petite Cami is intended to feel less like a mass-produced accessory and more like a small sculpture with purpose.
